Red, White & BOOM 2007: Energizer Bunny Baby

Red, White & Boom 2007 was this Tuesday, and Evie joined her parents and Nana & Grandpa at the Pepsi/WNCI/WCMH VIP party again this year - she's already a regular! It was a great time, but before I get into that, I have to mention Evie & Allison's play date last weekend. Carrie & Allison came over and played with Amy & Evie for awhile Saturday afternoon. I missed out, but from what I hear the girls had a good time, with some typical young baby drama. None of our pictures turned out particularly well, but Carrie managed to grab a few great ones (which I grabbed from their site):

But - back to the present! This Tuesday was Red, White & Boom, and we took Evie down for her second year in a row! We figured she probably wouldn't be sleeping through the fireworks this year like she did last year, so there was some definite worry that we'd have to bail early due to a crabby baby kept out way past her bedtime... but we were all willing to do that if needed.

Well, this year's new & improved "Mobile Evie 1.3" was definitely a bit more of a handful than last year, and wore Mommy, Nana & Grandpa out chasing around the garage rooftop checking everyone out and making sure all the partygoers saw her pretty new July 4th dress and how awesome she was (duh!)
In addition to running around all over creation, getting a new balloon animal (a monkey, which she happily quoted for the rest of the evening -- "ooo ooo ooo!" She also spent a LONG time playing with this super advanced & expensive new toy... a cup full of ice... Dumping out the ice, picking it back up again, pouring the cubes on a chair, on the ground, handing them out to us... she was having a blast with the ice. And amazingly, never tried to eat the dirty ice! Bonus!

She also had a good time plane-watching with Mommy & Nana:

And trying on Mommy's sweatshirt:

She DID start wearing down a little around 8:30-9 (more than an hour past her normal bedtime, even when she HASN'T been running around like a crazy baby all evening), and we laid her down in the stroller for awhile, but she was too nosy about all the goings on, and never got more than "drowsy" (but also never got more than "mildly crabby"). When the fireworks finally came, she had a great time watching:

The ride home after the show was, as I'm sure you can imagine, LONG and SLOW, and at first Evie was none-too-happy to be stuck in the car seat... but it didn't take long before she was out cold and sleeping soundly for the rest of the night.
