First (OSU) Baby Shower

My friends Jamie and Julie threw a beautiful baby shower for me and Baby T today. A lot of my friends from OSU jobs past and present were there, so it was my OSU friend shower!
It was a really nice afternoon. We started by hanging out and chatting/catching up with one another and eating some yummy goodies--veggie and cheese trays and quesadillas! Then they had a chocolate fountain of fondue with fruit and angel food cake and it was sooo yummy!

Baby T got tons of stuff! Books, clothes, diapers and diaper bag, boppy pillow, sheets, diaper champ, toys, pacifiers, soaps and lotion, decorations and everything in between! There we also fun games and we got a group picture for my scrapbook that I got to show off to folks and we hung out and chatted some more.

Then Mom V and I went to her house and she 'couldn't wait' to give us more stuff so we ran it over to our house and Max helped open the high chair, pack and play, and lots of stuff to go with the two things like bibs and sheets and such. We are very excited to have so much nice stuff for baby!

Afterwards, Max, mom and I got everything into the house and most things put away for now:) I also gave Max a book called "Rookie Dad" that has activities and exercises he and I can do with baby from 0-18 months or so.

Newest Saga

Baby T's Childbirth classes were scheduled for this Wednesday and Thursday. I just got a call today that the classes were entered into the system for the wrong day and are actually next Wednesday and Thursday--when we already have plans!

I was getting so excited about the classes and am bummed out that we have to move dates. Now we are doing the classes March 3 & 4, a Friday/Saturday because that is the only other set of dates they had before April we could do. Life sure is getting busy already!

The good news is they are refunding us our money for the class. The bad news, other than the obvious reschedule mishap is that our only options were to add on to already 'full' classes so I hope we aren't too packed into a room without enough instructor attention if we need it!

In other news...Baby T has been kicking like crazy for the past several days. I am not sure if this is an extension of plane ride excitement kicking or what but Baby T seems to be gearing up for something--a soccer match maybe?

Baby's Last Trip

Baby and I took our last plane ride pre-delivery this week. We went to Baltimore MD for a few days. The trip there was ok. One of the airline employees was really rude to me (she asked if I was ok with an exit row and I mentioned I was pregnant and she snarfed at me that 'you have to be able to lift 40 pounds. I could lift 40 pounds when I was pregnant...' in a nasty tone) and then I gave her a look which helped her find me a seat in a non-exit row.

The hotel was nice this year and the conference went ok. The planning for it was a mess so my booth, which should have been ready Thursday at 3 p.m. wasn't set up until Friday at 8 a.m. Oh well.

On the way back we had even more airline excitement. My flight was supposed to go from Baltimore to JFK in NYC to Columbus. Well, the flight from JFK to Columbus was cancelled so the airline people rerouted me in the stupidest way. They had me flying from Baltimore to JFK. Then my flight out from LAGUARDIA to Columbus left 3 hours later. And I was going to have to take the train or a cab from JFK to Laguardia (which are 'only' about 2 hours apart by train) but they didn't have a handle on how this would work, so I am guessing I would have made my own way? I kept insisting that they could route me with a layover in another airport but it took about 20 minutes before they were able to put me on a flight from Baltimore to Atlanta, 1 hour layover, then fly to Columbus. We even managed to get here about 10 minutes early. Total craziness though when they couldn't get my flight fixed without sending me all over the city of New York.

So overall the trip was not well planned but baby and I are home safe and sound. I think baby is glad that we are because I was getting some kicking action every time the air pressure changed slightly during take-off and landing!

It's Time for A Weekend Update

This weekend went too fast as they always do. Friday night we vegged around the house and watched tv, Saturday we did some shopping and then Gary and Max hung out while I did more shopping and read a book.

On Sunday we joined Worthington United Methodist Church and Max was baptised. It was a nice service and now we belong somewhere so Baby T can be baptised too, which is just one of those religious things from my youth that is still important to me, but that I can't really explain.

We also went to the Trebonis to watch the SuperBowl. I scrapbooked while they watched the game. I got a ton done--5 template pages for my baby/pregnancy scrapbook and 7 template pages for my family Christmas scrapbook so that was a good deal. I want to finish the Christmas scrapbook now so all I have to do later is add pictured and journaling. There are 18 pages total and I figure if I wait and do one page at a time over the course of about 18 years that at some point the project might die--there is a much better chance of it surviving if I just have to glue and j0t quick notes!

Today has been BUSY since I am out every other day this week. Tomorrow I got to Ohio University (hope the roads are cleared there or I will turn around and come home!), Wednesday is OSU Marion and Thursday-Saturday I am in Baltimore MD for a last-minute conference. This will be Baby T's and my last trip/flight before I deliver.

I Do Not Have Gestational Diabetes!

All of my tests (they poke you 4 times!) came back normal! Yipee! Thank you everyone for sending me good vibes!

However, this was enough to scare me into eating better and exercising, which isn't a bad thing (the nurse said I should celebrate with a pixie stick but I think I will skip the sugar and maybe get my favorite healthy meal or something instead). I think I just ate really bad right before the first test (a Wendy's value meal and a snack of crackers about 20 minutes before I drank the gunk) but I had no idea how bad that stuff is for you--makes me want to swear off fast food forever, or at least until I crave it again:)

Yeah!
