Cinti Visit

I was really, really sick this week--I was so sick I got dehydrated and ended up at the ER to get some fluids pumped in me. As a result, I missed some good Evie stuff but she had a pretty busy week!

She now says shoe when her shoes fall off or if she wants to put them on and even when you show her a shoe. Her other big word this week isn't one that she says but when we read her books that have a shirt in them, she'll grab her shirt and tug it when you say shirt!

She is drooling like crazy and I hope some teeth appear shortly, but so far no success. She has been letting me put my finger in there to check things out and she laughs when I rub her gums--she thinks it is very funny.

She also has two new habits, one of which is a little unusual. She sticks her fingers in her ears like "hear no evil" a lot. To joke around we usually then cover ear eyes and mouth too! The other one is not so odd, but she has taking to really hard-core sucking her thumb. She used to be a very light thumb sucker if she was very tired but now she runs around with her thumb in her mouth a lot of the time.

Saturday, we did our first trip as just the two of us to Cincinnati to go to a cousin's bridal shower--she did great with the car ride and meeting so many new people all at once. She was running around everywhere so I was pretty tired but it was fun. Here are some pictures:This is my grandma with all her female great-grandchildren--notice how many are crying?

First Birthday Party

Loads of people came to Evie's first birthday party yesterday and I think we all had lots of fun within the chaos! Thanks to everyone for sharing the day with her! She got a lot of nice things and was a little more interested in her cake this time, even ending up with icing in her ear!!She went through 3 outfit changes, just like a mini diva should! It was very 'My Super Sweet 16'. Afterwards she took a nap and then we went to Bucca di Beppo with her cousins from Indiana. She was an absolute riot--she kept feeding mommy pieces of her food and when I would eat them she laughed so hard she eventually got the hiccups and she had to put her head down on the table to 'control' her laughter. It was hysterical!

Last week we also went to the park by Otterbein and she loved the train for little kids to climb on:Look at the crazy daredevil!

12 month appointment

Evie had her one year appointment today--
25% for weight at 19 lb 12 oz
50% for height at 29 inches
85% for noggin' at 43.5 cm

When she was born her head was about 13 cm around (thank goodness)! Can you believe that bitty body supports such a huge head!

They also asked about how many words she says so we rattled off stuff like: mama, dada, bubba (dogs and cats and bunnies), bye-bye, uh-oh, num-num (food), ball and down (most recent and also uses for up). Apparently the doctor usually looks for a baby to have 3 words down by 15 months so I would say Evie is a little chatty:). She is such a show-off!

She also has her second ear infection, in her left ear again this time!

Happy Birthday to Evie...

Today was Evie June bug's first birthday. We can hardly believe it is already here. We spent the morning together, mommy made dairy-free pancakes and we played until Evie took a nap and then Nana and Grandma came over and we opened presents and thenwent to lunch and to Franklin Park Conservatory to see the butterflies. Here are some pictures from the conservatory:They have a great new kids room which she loved playing in! Then we watched the new butterfly release before heading out:After that we picked up grandpa and all came back to the house for dinner, present opening and the first birthday cake fiasco. Evie did not really like the cake--she got upset when the icing got stuck on her fingers and she flung it everywhere trying to get it off. Eventually most of it ended up mashed in her hair!

And finally, here 1 year card picture. Note how different it is from the days old version:

Easter

Evie got 3 different Easter baskets for Easter--lucky baby! She also went to church and did a really good job during the service and was super cute. She loves banging stuff together and making noise! And she is too cute (and knows it!).She's also a daredevil. Here's her new favorite thing to do with daddy and grandpa--they push her around on a rubbermaid box lid almost like a sled and she just laughs and laughs. She thinks it is super fun when she falls over and that is when she laughs the loudest! They also push her under the coffee table and she deliberately sits up tall so she hits her head on it--so crazy:After nana and grandpa left, Evie got even crazier--she climbed into her rocking chair and was standing up in it and rocking, then she climbed into the bookshelf and tried to stand up--which didn't go so well:

Sassafras--Added Picture

Evie is a sassy little lady. We went to dinner last night with Nana and Grandpa and she just wanted to wander around and show off to people, sticking her crazy little belly (with semi-outie belly button) out all over the place. It was a little bit diva, but also very cute!

She is also really verbal--she says 'no' and uses it correctly and the same with 'down' when she doesn't want to be held. Her use of dada is also much more accurate--for a while there it was just part of her babble. She is saying some new stuff, like the 'Sh' sound (which sounds like something it shouldn't sometimes) and this new thing that is like gagooguh...and requires some weird facial movements and a bit of spitting. It is really fun because whenever she says it (and it is often) she gets this really intent and serious look on her face and you can tell she is thinking hard and really means it. Someday, we might figure out what she's talking about?!

She had a playdate on Saturday with one of my co-workers kids who has a 3 year old son and a daughter born the exact same day as Evie. They did a pretty good job playing somewhat together and no huge tears over favorite toys being borrowed, so that was good. Hope, who is the exact same age as Evie, is a real cutie and she does this fun crab crawl thing which is hard to describe but she just looks totally like a crab doing it and she is SUPER fast!

And drum roll please...can you believe Evie will be a year old in exactly one week? I know people say it goes by fast but it goes by FASTER than fast! Hard to believe she's been around 358 days already.
