Happy Birthday to Evie...

Today was Evie June bug's first birthday. We can hardly believe it is already here. We spent the morning together, mommy made dairy-free pancakes and we played until Evie took a nap and then Nana and Grandma came over and we opened presents and thenwent to lunch and to Franklin Park Conservatory to see the butterflies. Here are some pictures from the conservatory:They have a great new kids room which she loved playing in! Then we watched the new butterfly release before heading out:After that we picked up grandpa and all came back to the house for dinner, present opening and the first birthday cake fiasco. Evie did not really like the cake--she got upset when the icing got stuck on her fingers and she flung it everywhere trying to get it off. Eventually most of it ended up mashed in her hair!

And finally, here 1 year card picture. Note how different it is from the days old version:

Pictures!

Evie now has 2 teeth and is over 11 months old which is just crazy. She has officially been alive (outside of mommy) for every single one of the 12 months in a year! Here are some recent pictures:

Evie does the dishes (is that a psycho butter knife?)!

9 Months Old!

Evie is 9 months old now--time flies by so fast! She had a good New Year and has been doing all sorts of crazy things--she crawls really fast, babble talks a ton and daycare says she keeps trying to walk there too, but still early stages on all of that! Her 9 month appointment was Wednesday and she weighed 17 lbs, 12 oz with a head circumference of 18 inches and length of 28 inches. This puts her noggin' at 90%, weight at 30% and height at 60%...so she is all over the place, which isn't uncommon. She had fun playing with her reflection:The doctor seemed very concerned about the hives Evie has been getting that always seem to appear after she eats something with milk in it (other than breastmilk). When I called over December several times the nurse line people made it seem like no big deal, but after talking to the doctor we took Evie to get some bloodwork done to do a RAST test for milk and eggs. Apparently hives frequently signify a serious allergy that isn't something that is outgrown (lots of babies have trouble with milk but outgrow it later). Keep your fingers crossed--we really hope she doesn't have an allergy and that it is just a fluke.

Then we all went to PF Chang's to celebrate Holly's 30th...lots of fun. As you can see the Juner was really excited: She played for a while and then completely racked out for the rest of the night.

Evie got her first big boo-boo tonight. She was pulling herself up on the coffee table like she has a million times before and slipped and hit her right cheek on the table leg. It left a big indent for a while and immediately turned bruised and red. You can't see it great in this picture but she has a little purple bruise line from where she took the 'cheeker' into the table leg:(

Evie is 8 Months Young Today!

It is Evie's 8 month birthday! What this means is:
  • she is taller and weighs more--she is over 17 pounds and just a bit over 27 inches long
  • she is cuter and more huggable than ever
  • she eats all sorts of crazy foods--and has learned to feed herself puffs (which were formerly too small for her to grab--look at those fine motor skills maturing!)
  • we have another 'deck of cards' photo for you
  • we are 2/3 of the way there to her first birthday!
What she's still holding out on:
  • she still has no toothers
  • she prefers commando crawl and rolling to getting up on all fours and using the more regularly 'approved' method
  • walking, well duh, right?
But for the first time ever this weekend for her parents she:
Pulled herself from sitting to standing all by herself AND was able to remain standing (before she has slowly toppled over the other direction after pulling herself up)! Here she is on her 'learn-around' playground which she loves. As her daddy says, she is the standin'-est girl!

And here are her card photos. I can't decide on a favorite because they are all fun--although the one on the right almost doesn't even look like her to me (she looks like a doll or something I guess). Unfortunately her mobile status precludes us from getting a great shot of the cards on her chest for growth comparison, but I think these are a still fun--and of course the left-hand photo says--I'm gonna get you sucka!

Evie's Birthday (well...kind of, sort of)

Today is Evie's 3 month birthday! She is getting so big so quickly! She was obviously excited this morning to celebrate her b-day:

In celebration of her 3 month birthday, Evie has gotten her first cold! She has some pretty major snuffles but she's still happy:) She is scheduled to get 3 month pictures taken later this week (and once they come in I will send those out with the 6 week pictures I keep forgetting to send out).

Make sure you check out her weekend update post below!

Father's Day

Evie and mommy conspired to give daddy an awesome first father's day!
Look at how cute she is!

Daddy got the 'obligatory tie' he asked for, a dress shirt, stepping stone with Evie's foot in it and a photo scrapbook from shutterfly (as a note this links to the site not the book, which you can see if you visit us:) ). He also got funds for whatever he wants to use them for and some nice polo shirts from our parents.

We also got Grandpa his own scrapbook:Hopefully daddy will post and tell everyone about his first father's day soon!

At Evie's 2 mo. appointment she got 4 yucky shots which she was ok with (somewhat fussy but mostly sleepy), and has gotten soooo big. She weighed 12 lb 1.5 oz, 24 inches long. This puts her in the 80%tile for weight and 92% for height!
