Max had surgery this morning and it was outpatient. He did just fine and is currently upstairs asleep because he is really tired. He has been able to eat and has been up a little bit between naps. I am using Baby T's nursery monitor to make sure he is ok upstairs while I roam around downstairs.
He had a laparoscopic hernia repair and they made a little incision in his belly button (I have one too from a laparoscopy I had done about 7 years ago) and then pumped him full of air and looked around. I think they got all of the air they pumped into him back out, which is good because with mine they left a lot of air in there and it is very painful! They also 'painted' him with green stuff so he has incredible hulk looking stomach right now which is kind of fun.
He should be back in action in a few days to a week, so keep your fingers crossed that his recovery goes as well as his surgery did today!

Baby T's Family and Friends Shower
We had a shower for family and friends on Saturday. Baby T got soooo much stuff! We are very lucky to have so many generous people in our lives and Baby T is going to be one decked out baby in all the cool clothes and a very happy baby with all the cool toys...lots of great baby things! We also had my favorite cake from Schneiders Bakery in Westerville. Yum!
A whole ton of my family was able to come including family that came all the way from Chicago, which is really neat. I also had quite a few friends here including Irene from Dayton who cross-stitched a really cute bib for Baby T. Nana (Mom T) made a really nice scrapbook to fill and also knitted a beautiful blanket as well. There were so many people here I am not sure I even got to talk to everyone, so I am sorry if I missed you in the party mayhem. We also received many presents from people who sent things ahead but were unable to come.
Most guests also painted a onesie for Baby T and there are tons of cute ones. My hope/plan is to take a picture of Baby T in each person's onesie and send them a copy so they can see their art in action.
Baby's room is almost ready...and only a few more weeks before baby is here. Next week we hit only one month to go--I can hardly believe it!

Classes and Vacation
These past several days have been very busy. We had our childbirth classes on Friday and Saturday and also did a baby basics class (diapers, bathing, etc. stuff). The classes were ok. We learned a whopping 3 breathing techniques, one of which I can't seem to remember even a few days later and also talked about positions and medication options and such.
Before the class I was super gung-ho for an epidural. Now I am not so sure. I think I will decide if I need it when the time comes. I know it really takes the edge off the pain but it also means you can't move around and when I got one for my first kidney stone surgery several years ago my blood pressure got all messed up (usually really low and it spiked really high). Anyway, what I think I most got out of the class was that I'll just need to roll with the punches that day because you really can't totally plan for what having a baby is going to be like. I do feel more prepared which is funny because now I really have almost no plan.
Sunday we left for Glenlaurel and we totally needed a mindless, calm, serene vacation. I think it did the trick even though we hit a few bumps along the way. On Monday we decided to eat lunch somewhere in Hocking Hills (not at our B&B) and NO WHERE was open. We drove around for at least an hour and tried 3-4 places with no success. We also stopped by to check out Ravenwood Castle. We have tried unsuccessfully to eat there several times to check it out. It was quite an experience just going for a look.
First, the driveway to the place was practically at a 90 degree angle and very scary. Then we got to the place and got out of the car and walked towards the entrance. About 3/4 of the way to the door this big black dog comes around a corner and starts barking at us. And then it comes towards us and we are kind of screwed because it wasn't leashed and no one was around. It kept following us and barking and we decided to get back in the car. Really doesn't make me want to stay somewhere when they have a mean-looking, barking dog running loose and no one comes when it barks. The driveway out was even worse than the one in and Max thought he was going to flip the minivan. I am guessing no repeats there.
We finally ended up stopping at a very bizarre covenience/general store place and got lunch for $5. It wasn't all that tasty but it was cheap:)
Glenlaurel though was awesome. The food was good both nights and we ate at their first ever 'French Night' which was fun. Our room was also very cozy and we had a lot of nice times reading and chatting by the wood stove fireplace and there was a huge bathtub which I loved and we hiked quite a bit. I am very proud of myself for having the energy to do several low-key trails in my 33rd week of pregnancy. I think I was able to hike more this time than I have in the past, which is too funny!
Yesterday after we came back we gaved the puppies baths because they really needed them and then I washed all of Baby T's clothes and linens stuff in Dreft. I am feeling much more on track now.

Surprises
Sneaky Irene sent us an awesome surprise package this past weekend--we got a big box full of cute neutral baby clothes and socks which is very much appreciated! Baby T is going to have plenty to wear now (since babies sometimes need what, 10 outfits+ per day:P) and there was a lot of cute stuff in the box. Max seemed very taken with the baby socks. Apparently Carrie lost one of Al's socks when doing the pre-wear wash and I can see how that would be easy--they are hardly bigger than a ball of lint! I have them safely stowed in a little 'baby delicates' laundry mesh sack to try and keep a handle on them.
Also, due to the extreme tinyness of the socks, we have to make sure Pasquale doesn't find them. He inhaled one of MY socks whole about a year ago so I figure he could ingest entire pairs of baby socks pretty easily. Crazy pooch!

I just checked our credit card statement when it came in the mail and they reimbursed us for all 4 of the classes--3x the amount of just the childbirth class. Yipee for us. I guess I'm not mad about that anymore:)

Rolling Along
Everything is continuing to go pretty well. I had an OBGYN appointment on Friday and baby's heartbeat was at 150 this time (always with the flipping between 150 and 160!). My 'big' belly as Max calls it measures perfectly and I am just plugging along. They also checked me for anemia and said that my iron levels were really good, actually unusually good for a pregnant lady. Good thing I have been loving meat lately I guess!
I have another infection and am on antibiotics--hoping this is the last round for a long time. Luckily our prescription co-pays actually went down this year from $10 each to $5 each so it was cheaper than last time!
Max and I investigated a pediatrics office a ton of people we know use and we thought it seemed like a good place so that is one more thing checked off the list! Only about a million more things to go:)
I also am getting tons of baby movement, especially during the day at work. Sunday Max and I were able to see my belly wigglin' and jigglin' for the first time because there was some very feisty kicking going on and there isn't a lot of room in there for baby right now. I have a feeling I will start ballooning out soon.
This was a big week for babies! Sarah had her baby on Monday and Carrie and Chris welcomed Allison 'Al' Jean Fish into the world on Thursday. I was able to see the proud parents of Al and they looked like they were doing well. Hope to meet Allison soon since she had a special visit to NICU for fluid in her lungs and wasn't up for as many visitors as her mom and pop could handle. The pictures are too cute!
Now I am just trying to keep my head above water. We have childbirth and baby basics classes this week and there are just a ton of things to think about and do still. It is kind of making me crazy--I have less than two months to go so at work I am cross-training someone while getting more and more tired every day and then there is always lots to do and think about once I get home. I need a few mindless days--Max and I are hoping to go to Glenlaurel Inn next week for a last hooray pre-baby! Glenlaurel is uber-relaxing and I could use the break:)
