Evie had an oopsie at daycare--even after switching, and meeting with the kitchen people, and be really vigilant about her milk allergy, she was given a veggie burger that had not one, not two but at least three kinds of milk in it. Not surprisingly, she puffed up like a marshmallow and had to go to the ER.
She got the epipen of magicalness, breathing treatments (with a dinosaur mask that she loves) and had to be kept overnight for observation. Luckily she seems back to normal already except for some stomach gas/yucks. Even when we got to the ER on Tuesday, despite having lower than desired oxygen levels and only being able to open her eyes partway, Evie was chatting up a storm and being super cute. She was a real trooper because she had to get an IV port too :(. Poor poked and prodded buggy!
We are meeting with daycare director today to try and figure out how something like this could happen and make sure a better plan is in place so this is the last time. I am afraid they are going to be doing some finger pointing at us, but hopefully I am wrong (one of the ER doctor's yelled at me and chastised me pretty hard core :(. I wasn't even there--if I had been she never would have eateb that, duh). I am feeling pretty edgy about the whole situation so gloves will be off if this isn't taken very seriously.
In good news, Evie did her first potty in months! It was mostly an accident, but it was still success! She sits on the toilet at least 30 minutes a day and just doesn't want to go in there. She happily sits there and then she will try and get up and say she needs a diaper on. The other day we let her run around naked to see if that worked and she peed on the fireplace hearth and the mirror we have propped up there (it was kind of funny). She freaked out though:(.
Kids is tough, man.

Kid Speak
Kid's say the silliest things. This morning after I blew my nose into a tissue Evie said: "When I am a big girl I will have big boogers and blow them." She was so excited:)

It's been a long time...
We have been total slackers about updating Evie's website. It has been pretty crazy times though--fall quarter always is and Max has been off on fun adventures (Cavs game a few weeks ago and Browns game this past week) and Amy just finished her almost year long gym/fitness program, is 3ish months into her new job at OSU and is teaching class one night a week at OSU Newark. Add trips to Cinti and general mayhem and we've hardly sat in front of a computer long enough to post!
About one month ago Evie decied she really wanted to get her hair cut so we took her to get her hair cut. It might appear that she is upset in this pic, but she is actually yelling 'yeah' and all excited and ridiculous.
She has also been very particular about what she wears/dressing herself:
For Halloween, people kept asking what Evie was going to be and we honestly didn't know--I think most folks thought that we hadn't bought something yet but it was actually because Evie has 7 or 8 different princess dresses and we weren't sure which one she would pick. This one is Princess Giselle:
She keeps asking to do Halloween again but obviously that's a no go. I think she will be over the moon when we let her wear her princess dresses at Disney in December!
So, Amy's fitness program is done (but she still works out and eats better). She won first place in her group which included a makeover and professional photo shoot (photos from that to come, this is one Max took). You may have noticed that in addition to losing 26 inches and 10% body fat, she also lost 10.5 inches of hair. After 2.5 years of painstackingly growing it out she had enough to donate to Locks of Love.
With some unclaimed funds and other unexpected windfalls, Max was able to finally buy one of the new Mac powerbooks, so hopefully more updates will be coming soon.

July is almost over?
This month has flown by. We took our first just us out-of-state overnight vacation with Evie to Chicago and had a really good time. We went to Taste of Chicago, American Girl Store, Bloomingdale's (where mommy got some fabulous dresses one of which to be featured later), Adler Planetarium (don't ask), Shedd's Aquarium, and Rainforest Cafe in addition to visiting with family that lives just outside of Chicago.
Evie has also gone to the optometrist a few times to get a clogged duct on her eye checked out. We have been torturing her with eye ointment for about a week and a half but the spot isn't going all the way away. We are hoping surgery (something they mentioned at last visit) isn't our only option. Otherwise Evie has been doing really well--some temper tantrums over clothes she wants to wear out of the house:
and other toddler moments. She's been really funny lately trying to play jokes with us, talking about when she used to live in mommy's belly and other silliness (apparently one of her teachers at school is pregnant). She also wants us to tell her the name of EVERY person in the books we read (who's that girl, what's his name, is that ___) which makes books take a lot longer to read and has been super duper in to baths since our vacation. Our hotel in Chicago had a pool and since coming home, Evie has been 'swimming' in our tub and we have a really hard time getting her out of there.
We also went to mommy's godson's first birthday party. Here is Drew eating his cake--he was hesitant at first and then took a facer into it).
And so far this month mommy and daddy also celebrated their 8th wedding anniversay by going out to eat at Eddie Merlot's on Polaris Parkway. It is a delicious steakhouse!
