Easter Bunny!

Evie had a really nice Easter and even got to see the Easter Bunny, although mommy had to be in the picture just like with Santa Claus. She seems to be getting better but is still sick:( Here are some Easter pictures:She loved searching for easter eggs and was a little disappointed that there were only twelve to find! We also got bunny bread from Great Harvest--whole wheat bread shaped like a bunny and she is getting a huge kick out of eating the bunny's legs and ears...even today she was super pumped to eat the bunny. Poor bunny!

She has 2+ teeth coming in right now--two that have broken through and at least that many more poking out so the fact that she has been really fun (except for a 60 minute + meltdown over some Cinderella slippers that was really ridiculous) in spite of all this is good news for mommy and daddy! She is also talking up a storm and a huge mimic--daddy's shoulder was hurting him so he had a hot pack on it and she looked at me and said "it hurting fast mommy" and asked for an 'icee' so she could be just like him. She loves discussing her boo-boos and getting ice packs for them. She also saw some dog excrement on the deck (stupid snow phobic puppies), went and got her toy broom, and then told daddy she would go sweep it up for him. She is just so crazy--I love how she can communicate with us and how cute the stuff she wants to do is--the girl loves chores!

Some of her communicative nature is 'cute' but it is hard too. Daddy was trying to dance with her and she looked over and saw him and said "no dancing over here daddy" so he moved and asked if he could dance in another area of the room and she said "no dancing daddy." What a critic!

Here she is in her easter sunglasses which she wore through breakfast (when I turned off the lights as we left this morning she said "mommy, it's too dark"--duh!) and she kept them on for the entire drive to Nana and Grandpa's house despite dawn not even having hit yet. I can't breathe...

So Evie is having the asthma wheeze problem again. This is (I think) the 4th time since January--and I might be forgetting one. Daddy took her to the doctor yesterday and she had to have 3 breathing treatments there with the nebulizer before they would let her go--if the 3rd one hadn't worked, she would have been sent to ER to be on oxygen and monitored.

She is doing home treatments with an inhaler and she is also on steroids to reduce inflammation in her lungs and has to take Singulair once a day indefinitely. Luckily, they gave us 2 free months of Singulair because there is no generic and the copay is $30/month which is pricey in my opinion. Although it is cheaper than my Crohn's medication by a lot!

Basically, she doesn't 'just' catch a cold or the flu--she catches those and then has asthma stuff going on, and it looks like that will happen every time. it's really hard because I think this might all be stemming off her first cold that gave her the bad breathing--first she gets the cold/asthma, then mommy or daddy gets it, then the other person gets it, then Evie gets it again, then we just keep cycling through this in a never-ending pattern. We are not fans of the uber-cold.

Otherwise, things are good. Work has been insane for both of us so hopefully things will actually be calmer once Spring Quarter starts up next week. Happy Easter everyone.

Cute Evie Moment

Last night Evie was playing with my old cell phone that she likes to run around with sometimes. She opened it up and said: "mommy it's not working" and I agreed with her to which she said "it needs new batteries."

How freaking cute!

So, we've been delinquent

It has just been a really busy times with colds, illness, work, school, play, etc that we haven't had much of a chance to fill you in on our lives. Unfortunately, probably nothing too exciting to tell, but we've been having lots of fun--it is hard to believe Evie will be two years old in about a month!

Big news since last update:

• Evie is finally teething again--she only has 11 teeth right now but she has two coming in--one top front and another bottom front. She is doing pretty well with it but is a bit fussy from time to time. I am sure it hurts!'
• Evie went to urgent care for more funky breathing--they did a chest Xray and she is in good shape, just when she gets a cold (guaranteeing we get one eventually too) it makes it really hard for her to breathe. Hopefully she will not end up with asthma.
• We had Evie's first parent-teacher conference and she is doing really well, right on track or ahead for most areas they assessed. It is pretty cool that OSU does these so young. They use Brigance for their assessments.
  
• She can get her pants on (and off) by herself. She almost has the hang of coats and jackets but shirts are still alluding her.
  
• Evie continues to be obsessed with the mall, stores and shopping. She has cried a few times when we got home and I took her out of the car because she didn't want to go home--she wanted to be at the store!
• She can say just about anything (so be careful). She can sing several songs from CDs we own and she is almost able to do the entire alphabet song. In addition, she has the vocabulary to be bossy, fun and we can usually figure out what she wants and what is wrong.
• Evie can be quite the drama queen (as she screams in the background because she doesn't like the cup her water is in.) Some of you might have noticed this when we were at Mike and Mo's to see Brew. Sorry 'bout that. On the plus side, her moods and faces are fascinating.
• Peanut, peanut butter...Evie has successfully eaten peanut butter and cashew butter three times now with no sign of allergic reaction, fingers crossed!
  
• Snow! Evie has helped 'shovel' and she LOVES her snow pants. She wouldn't take them off for hours yesterday even after we came inside. She really wants to be outside today but it IS a blizzard out there. FYI Delaware County has been level 3 snow emergency most of the day. Here is some photo evidence:

Never humdrum

We don't believe in being bored (or relaxed but boy would that be nice!) so Evie had some 'fun' in store for us last week. She caught a really nasty virus that made it very hard for her to breathe--she was wheezing and her poor little body was working overtime just to get a small amount of air in with each effort. I took her to the doctor and she had to have 2 breathing treatments there and then we did more at home + steroids for several days to get her back on track. She seems much better now.

The good news is she LOVED her home breathing treatments (the nebulizer at the doctor's office took 15 minutes of holding her down with something in her face/mouth each time). She has an inhaler and a spacer and I think she has confused the spacer with a toy. She requests to hold it all the time and tucks it under her arm like she does her babies! The bad news is that with her allergies and now this reaction to a virus, she has a bigger chance of having asthma, but it is too soon to tell on that. It could also (fingers crossed) just be a random one type event. It was pretty scary!

The funny news is that both the inhaler meds and the steroids she was taking made her psycho, crazy energetic. She would just run around and around and around the couch, giggling and tripping over stuff and dropping things and being absolutely ridiculous. I have some video of her flipping this big lamb 'chair'/pillow thing all over the living room and climbing on it and somersaulting off of it and she was having the best time--then all of a sudden she just flipped it in front of the TV, sat down, put her thumb in her mouth and it was all over. I need to see if Max can help me get video on here. I have tried from my home and work computers but can't get the DVD to read each video as a file for some reason? Anyway, it was a total riot.

Otherwise she has just been doing her normal Evie thing, bossing us around, being cute, in general having a good time.
