Evie is an active girl

Evie has had a big week. She went to the fair two times--once with Irene, Jer and Alaina and another time with Grandma and Shari. Now that she can be in her baby bjorn facing out she really enjoys being in there (mostly she enjoys eating it!):She also has a very cute sun hat:
We also all went out to OSU-Newark to look at the classroom moomy's class will be in--I start teaching 8/28 out there for the 3 week course.

On Thursday she did a vision study at mommy's work and made more money again--she is quite the little working girl. Afterwards we went to Tropical Bistro for lunch (which she slept through) and took her on her first trip to Tuttle Mall before her 4 month doctor appointment. Apparently mommy measures bad because she is only 25 inches long (not 25.5). She weighed in at 13 lbs 13 oz, so her weight is closer to 60% while she is still 'tall' for her age and her noggin' is huge! It just has to be big so she can have super eyes and the extra chubby cheeks! The doctor said she is doing great. The weird round dry spot on her arm turned out to be eczema and not ring worm or anything weirder. We have been using cortizone on it since Thursday and it is already almost gone! We also can start trying her on real food (rice cereal first) if we want to so we may do that soon.

On Friday we visited the Sabs and Evie got to meet baby Katie--Evie was in a bit of a snit so no pictures of the two of them together, but here she is at Sabs and here's Katie with her daddy:

Yesterday we went to Babies R Us, the library and Nana and grandpa's house. We also put together and set up her high chair and she is so small in it--total riot:
And today she's already visited grandma while we went to church and who knows what else we will do today--like I said, she is a busy little lady!

The Witching Hour

So Evie has added this new thing to her bedtime routine. For the past several nights she has tried to go to bed at like 7-7:30 and we have tried to stretch her to 8 so she sleeps until we get up at 5:30 in the am. Because really, 5:30 am is already very early! Last night she fell asleep while eating at 7 and because Monday and Tuesday nights were so bad, I let her, thinking 'she has to be tired from not sleeping well the last 2 nights'. Wrong.

So in between mommy and daddy getting home and playing with her, and her entertaining herself while we eat dinner, and then playing again, and then going through the bedtime routine [(change clothes, diaper; eat; read books; set in bed and watch mobile until eyes drift shut for the night) which I will add has been working for us 6/7 days a week for a month or so], Evie has added: screaming of doom. She just screams and hollers so much and so badly that she chokes herself, forgets to breathe, turns bright red and actually heats her entire body up several degrees because she is so upset.

Screaming of doom is not even something we can see coming. She has done it before in the past, usually once a week or less, but this even seems a little different because she cannot be calmed down once she gets going, and we used to be able to get her a little calmer if we tried a few special tricks. For the past 3 nights though she seems totally fine--falls asleep while I feed her (and we still read her the book and do the mobile and everything in the 'routine' to get her prepped for bed) and when we leave the room she goes from 95% asleep baby to 110% crabby baby. Sometimes it is right away and sometimes we think we managed to get her asleep and then 5-10 minutes later she starts screaming like crazy.

It is really kind of scary. The first night we thought she had an upset stomach and she has been really gassy, even with gas drops, the past several nights. I have slightly propped her mattress up so her head is a tiny bit elevated and that hasn't done the trick either. But I really wonder if she has reflux or something because you can actually hear the gas and food and such rumbling and settling in her stomach and throat (when she isn't screaming). Sometimes when I feed her I can even feel all that rumbling around against my belly and it can't feel nice for her. I have been eating the same thing for lunch every day this week and am going to try something else for a few days to see if that helps (it might be the salami? :P) but we have no idea what else to do and she seems ok the rest of the day so probably not teething? Hopefully we can get some tips from our readers (ya you) and the doctor next week when she goes in for her second round of immunizations.

Baby Katie--Evie June's Newest Friend

Katherine Grace was born to Beth & Paul yesterday, July 31 at 12:31 pm

She was just under 7 pounds and was 21 inches or so (sorry, baby brain). She is a cutie!

Evie June's Been Busy

Evie has also had several milestones this week:

• One of her bouncy seats has a cow toy where you pull on the handle (really hard) and it plays music. We have helped her pull the orange handle several times but on Friday morning Evie pulled it down and made the cow play music TWO times on her own. It is actually rather hard to do, so go Evie!

• Today, we had Evie in a white dress and while we were eating dinner, she (on her own) kept pulling the dress over her head and then back down, kind of like she was playing peek-a-boo on her own! I have a great little video of her--she was a riot!
  

Evie June Bug

Evie June went to the doctor again last week because she has had a cold for 2 weeks and they wanted to check her out. She is in good health just a little snuffly. She weighed 13.5 pounds so my 14 pound estimate was a bit high (hey it was not an exact science with me weighing us together and then just myself).

She had a great time last week with her grandma all week long as Nana and Grandpa were on vacation. Grandma and Shari bought her several cute outfits at some sales and here are some of them on:











I love the patch dress on her--too friggin' cute for words! and the angle on the pink one makes her feet look HUGE:)

Nana and Grandpa got home late Saturday and came over to visit Sunday and got Evie several cute new outfits as well. The crowd favorite is the M&M outfit, where she is the green one (you know the chick M&M with attitude). I am telling you, I put the outfit on her and she BECAME the green M&M--she had quite the little 'tude for a while Sunday night. She also looked super cute--we took her to a church picnic and people kept asking to see the cute little M&M.
Next up I think she will wear her Alcatraz onesie that grandpa picked out--I think it is going to be hysterical!

Other than that Evie refused to go to sleep last night until I spent over an hour coaxing and snuggling and feeding and bouncing (you get the picture). Then she got up at 4:30 a.m. just to remind me who's boss. Mommy is sooooo tired today at work and having to plan travel with lots of things going wrong with the computer and being sleepy has made this task nearly impossible. I have scheduled one full trip and was hoping to schedule 2-3 today. Oh well, you can only do what you can do!
