Telling the parents

We decided we didn't want to wait to tell people because this will be the first grandbaby. Plus we are just too excited! We had friends over last night so we couldn't tell our parents yesterday and it was really hard not to tell people yesterday since they were over!

Then, we called both of our parents this morning and they were both busy--I was really expecting my mom to be available because she has been most of the summer and has had a slow relaxing one but she was going out somewhere. Max's dad was golfing and his mom had a red hat meeting at their house so we had to wait!

My mom got done with her thing first, so by default, got to find out first. She came over to our house to hang out and I told her I had been to the doctor and the good news is I have lost 20 lbs so far this summer. 'But I'll be putting it right back on--I'm pregnant'. She hopped up and gave me a hug and then 'drilled me' about the details. Due dates, how I am feeling and all that good stuff! Very exciting.

Right after she came over Max's parents called that they were home. So we left and went to their place and were just hanging out talking about the puppies. Max mentioned seeing a really cute beagle puppy on Thursday and asked his mom something along the lines of 'how would you feel about having 3 to watch. Well, we had just told them we weren't getting a third dog, so she said something about it--like didn't you just say you weren't getting a third? And Max said, we aren't, but we are going to have a baby! She started to tear up and then needed to sit down because she felt a little faint. She was so excited, as was dad!

My first doctor's appoinmtent with OB/GYN office is on August 23 so more news to follow. So far these are my symptoms:
  • gas
  • loss of appetite/yucky stomach
  • exhaustion!
