Evie June's Weekend and Play Date

So I think we surprised Beth with a mini-celebration for her and Katie. She thought the small group of 'us girls' were getting together for a lunch but we also invited her family and childhood friend as well as Sarah and Patty to join in on the fun! It is the first surprise I have planned in a really long time that I think actually worked!So far every shower or baby party I have been to or had for myself lately has had multiple preggie folk and clearly Beth and Katie's party was no different--here are Beth and Patty but pregnant Kim was also there too!

Yesterday Evie and I went over to Bethany's house to see Glenn. It was the first meeting for Glenn and Evie but I had met him the week he was born, a little over a month ago. He is soooo cute! He was lots of fun and very snuggly! We had gotten Evie and Glenn matching super 'person' outfits and awesome Bethany put Glenn in his so we could get these cute pics:













In other news, I have had a spectacularly bad week so far, part of which is chronicled on my recently defunked livejournal, in case you are interested.

Babies Is Cool

So I got an email from one of my favorite students today and she wrote the coolest baby analogy that I thought I would share:

'I remember being a kid and seeing Polaroid pictures develop for the first time--the blank page, and then a shadowy image, and then a picture I could recognize but with odd colors, and then the real image. Is it like that with a baby--that you see her getting more and more aware of her world and becoming more and more of a personality as each day goes by? I bet it is exciting!'

I thought this was absolutely perfect--and such a great visual. It's also a good analogy for how her vision is going from total blur of next to nothing to being able to see everything in the world around her as time goes on (which is cool for an optometry student too)!

And now for an Evie story and fun fact. Here's the story:
Evie is wearing a cute new outfit from Nana today that came with little soft shoes that are a smidge big on her for now. Mommy is driving along and at a stop light looks back and sees that Evie has managed to kick off her shoe, pick it up with her left hand and has it stuffed in her mouth. That's three different tasks combined together to eat one shoe--and seems pretty crazy that she managed to coordinate this landmark event at 3 months!

And now for the fun fact: Evie weighs about 14 pounds (I weighed her on our scale at home with me holding her, then weighed me so this isn't 100% accurate). I need to measure her still too. Apparently mommy weighed 17 pounds....when she was one year old! I think Evie is going to be bigger than her mommy was, for a while at least.

Evie's Birthday (well...kind of, sort of)

Today is Evie's 3 month birthday! She is getting so big so quickly! She was obviously excited this morning to celebrate her b-day:

In celebration of her 3 month birthday, Evie has gotten her first cold! She has some pretty major snuffles but she's still happy:) She is scheduled to get 3 month pictures taken later this week (and once they come in I will send those out with the 6 week pictures I keep forgetting to send out).

Evie June's Weekend

Evie June bug had a BIG weekend. She stayed with grandma while mommy and daddy went to Dream Dinners and a movie. Then Saturday she had friends over to play:You kind of have to wonder what we are all looking at since we all appear to be looking at something different. Think of this as being like the 'Sopranos' picture a few seasons ago that was supposed to be full of hidden secrets. The Fish and Sabatino families came over to have dinner and got to experience a Dream Dinner. I think it was tasty but maybe a bit of a stretch to feed 6 adults and one child--although we had a few different sides which might have covered it.

Then Sunday she hung out with grandma in her fabulous 'cake' dress while mom and dad were at church. Nana and mommy also put together Evie's exersaucer that Uncle Carl and Aunt Reagon got for her. It is supposed to be for 4+ months but since Evie already thinks she should be walking and has good head control we thought we would try it out. She really liked it and had fun for 10-15 minutes or so, but she is a little floppy-doodle still so she was able to hold her head up but kind of had to 'lean' forward and hang on to the side since she couldn't quite sit up straight. Evie is a Working Girl

Evie participated in a study at the college testing infant vision and made $10--I think technically this is her first job? Her $10 is in her piggy bank for a rainy day. She certainly made more money for the hour or so of her time than I made per hour in my first job!
Then Evie met Luke and Amy F. yesterday. Don't let her pouty face fool you--she had fun but just decided to be a little fussy last night:
And today she was a beach bum--hey she worked hard, played hard...it was time to relax hard!
